FAQ
Which plug-in solar kits are certified in the UK?
As of 24 July 2026, none have completed certification against the UK Interim Product Specification v2. SI 2026/848 comes into force on 27 August 2026 and manufacturers are certifying now. This page is updated weekly.
Is a kit that's on sale automatically legal to plug in?
No. Being on sale in the UK is not the same as being certified for standard-socket connection. Only a kit certified against the Interim Product Specification v2 is covered by SI 2026/848 from 27 August 2026.
What happens on 27 August 2026?
The PSSR amendment (SI 2026/848) comes into force. From that date a certified kit can legally connect through a standard socket, one per household, with the owner notifying their electricity distributor.
