On 26 October 2026, Sun Hours for Solar Panels ranked #1 in the Weather category on the Irish Mac App Store. It is one of four chart snapshots I have from the last month, and the only one at the top. I want to show all four, with their dates, and be clear about what they do and don't tell you.

The positions come from Toplify, a third-party tracker that records App Store chart positions. The badges above are Toplify's own ranking cards, resized for the web.
How to read these numbers
- They are snapshots. Chart positions move through the day, and Apple doesn't publish how it ranks them. Each figure is true for the date shown and no later.
- Mac and iPhone charts are separate. Ireland and the UK are Mac App Store figures; Nigeria and Slovakia are iOS App Store figures. A position on one says nothing about the other, so a #1 on the Mac chart doesn't mean beating every weather app on every device.
- They are category ranks. Weather is the category the app is listed under. This is not an overall chart position, and Toplify's badge doesn't say which Weather chart it is (top free, for example).
- A ranking isn't accuracy. It says how the app is doing in the store, not how good the forecast is. For that, the live accuracy tracker uses readings from real users.
What I can and can't say about why
I don't have a tidy story for why.
Nigeria is the one place where I published a dedicated guide: how many sun hours Lagos, Abuja and Kano get, on 12 September. Five weeks later the app was #3 in Nigeria's iOS Weather chart. That might be related. I can't prove it, and I won't claim it.
Ireland I can't explain with any confidence. Slovakia at #40 is here too, because it is one of the four snapshots I have.
Why publish them at all
Every ranking here has a date, a store and a source, and nothing is rounded up. If you look at the charts today you will probably see different numbers. That is how charts work, and it's why each figure carries its date. Every ranking I record is kept, with its date, on the rankings page.
